Pro Guitar Setup for Harley Benton RB612 CS Guitar

Welcome to our professional guitar setup guide for the Harley Benton RB612 CS. In this video, we'll take you through the step-by-step process to ensure your guitar plays like a dream.

Hi, I'm Ray Jennings at Rockit Guitar Repair, and today we're focusing on the Harley Benton RB612 CS, a fantastic 12-string guitar known for its rich sound and classic look. A proper setup can make a world of difference in your playing experience, so let's get started.

Checking and Adjusting the Neck Relief

"First, we'll check the neck relief. Place a capo on the first fret and press down on the last fret. Use a feeler gauge to measure the gap at the 8th fret. Ideally, you want about 0.010 inches. If adjustments are needed, use the truss rod to tweak the neck relief. Turn clockwise to reduce relief, counterclockwise to increase it."

"Next, let's set the action. Measure the string height at the 12th fret. For a comfortable setup, aim for around 2.5mm for the bass strings and 2mm for the treble strings. Adjust the saddle height if necessary."

Intonation Adjustment

"Now, we'll check the intonation. Tune your guitar and play the 12th fret harmonic, then compare it to the fretted note at the 12th fret. If the fretted note is sharp, move the saddle back. If it's flat, move the saddle forward. Repeat for each string until the intonation is spot on."

Pickup Height Adjustment

"Don't forget to adjust the pickup height. Too high or too low can affect your tone. Generally, aim for 2mm to 2.5mm from the strings to the pickups when pressing the last fret. Adjust the screws on the sides of the pickups to get the desired height."

Final Check and Play Test

"After all adjustments, give your guitar a final check. Play a few chords and riffs to ensure everything feels and sounds right. A well-set-up guitar should feel comfortable and sound balanced across all strings."

"That's it for our pro setup guide for the Harley Benton RB612 CS. Regular maintenance and a good setup can keep your guitar in top playing condition. Thanks for watching, and happy playing!"
