Electric Guitar Shielding

If your electric guitar gets static when playing around neon signs or fluorescent lighting in Marietta or Alpharetta GA, you may want to consider shielding the selector switch and the POT cavities. I’ve used both paint and copper shielding tape with good success. Also, for some reason dragging my fingernails across the Pick guard was causing static. This was eliminated using copper tape. The tape works well but two things to consider; one, you must solder seams together to create a solid piece and be careful because it’s very sharp. Two, the paint can be messy. Above all, make sure the electronics i.e. input jack, pickup switch and pots do not touch any paint or copper tape. This will ground out the devices and cause you a headache, take your time.
